A few years ago, when men’s tennis threatened to become an unwatchable ace fest, the response from the authorities was to slow down the courts.
It worked, to an extent, but it has now backfired.
The men’s game now has too often become a monotonous backcourt fest as the players continue to get even bigger and stronger, and the technology continues to progress — especially with the new strings.
